Western Railway Adventure and Sports Association Successfully Completes Pindari Glacier Trek in Uttarakhand Himalayas

Exemplary display of courage, endurance, and team spirit by the 12-member expedition team during the high-altitude
Mumbai Central Division, successfully completed the trek to the famous Pindari Glacier in the Uttarakhand Himalayas. This expedition reflects Western Railway’s ongoing commitment to fostering adventure sports, physical fitness, and team spirit among its employees.
According to a press release issued by Shri Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, a 12-member team led by Shri Surendra Soni (Train Manager Counsellor, Mumbai Central Division) successfully completed the challenging high-altitude trek to the Pindari Glacier, situated at an altitude of approximately 12,300 feet. Traversing through dense forests, alpine meadows, icy streams, and snow-covered trails, the team reached the base of the glacier, which offered breathtaking views of the Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot mountain peaks. The expedition highlighted the team members’ endurance, discipline, determination, and spirit of mutual cooperation.
The expedition team comprised Shri Surendra Soni, Shri Srijesh Achi, Shri Vinay Porwal, Shri Avinash Salunkhe, Shri Rambachan Singh, Shri Dinesh Yadav, Shri Avnish Yadav, Shri Ramavatar Sharma, Shri Priyesh Singh, and Ms. Prachi Soni from Western Railway’s Mumbai Central Division. Additionally, Shri Shailendra Uike and Shri S. P. Khare from West Central Railway were also part of the expedition team. Sharing his thoughts on the success of the expedition, Shri Surendra Soni remarked that the trek was an inspiring journey of self-discovery; it strengthened qualities such as courage, teamwork, and the resilience to face adverse conditions, while also fostering a deep respect for the Himalayas and nature.
The Western Railway Adventure and Sports Association regularly organizes trekking, mountaineering, and other adventure sports for railway employees to promote physical fitness, outdoor skills, and a spirit of teamwork. The Association plans to organize several such adventure expeditions in the upcoming season as well.
